Camp J Miami is a safe, fun, and caring environment that offers youth entering grades K-10 the opportunity to enjoy the traditional day camp experience. From daily Flag Pole to specialist programming, your campers will enjoy a wide variety of activities led by trained and experienced staff and designed to give them a summer experience unlike any other.

Traditional Camp

Kadima, Sabra, Bonim, Halutzim (Entering K-3rd)

KADIMA means "Forward" (entering K) |  SABRA means "Native" (entering 1st)
BONIM means "Builders" (entering 2nd) |  HALUTZIM means "Pioneers" (entering 3rd)

Our K-3rd grade Traditional Camp Program has something for everyone! Each group has at least 3 field trips at exciting venues around Miami throughout the summer as well as Special Event Wednesdays and Fun Fridays. We also have fantastic dress-up days so be ready to show your RUACH (spirit)!

Tsofim & Rishonim (Entering 4th-8th)

Our 4th-8th grade Traditional Camp Program is taking our camp activities to the next level! has something for everyone! Each group has at least 7 field trips at exciting venues around Miami and Broward throughout the summer as well as Special Event Wednesdays and Fun Fridays. Campers love showing their RUACH (spirit!) by getting creative on our dress-up days!

Tikvah Special Needs Camp (ages 3-30+)

TIKVAH means "Hope"

Camp Tikvah offers an exceptional camping experience with programs specifically designed for individuals who have either cognitive and/or physical disabilities. A stimulating environment with hands-on activities is created for each camper, with the goal of instilling confidence, developing social and life skills, increasing attention span and improving fine and gross motor skills. Campers participate in general camp activities on an individual basis where appropriate. Yearly intake is required.

Counselor In Training Program (Entering 9th & 10th)

This fun and exciting program is designed to develop leadership and camp counseling skills through hands-on experience. Under the guidance of Camp J Miami staff, the CITs work hands-on with younger Camp J groups. In addition to working with the groups, CITs participate in a comprehensive leadership training program throughout the week and are provided opportunities to grow their skillset. Habimah Performing Arts Camp (Entering 3rd-8th grades)

HABIMAH means "The Stage"

Lights, Camera, Action! HABIMAH campers expand their horizons and artistic potential in dance, drama, art, set and costume design, and music. Under the guidance of our highly trained and talented staff, campers are immersed in a high-level, 4-week production schedule filled with rehearsals, set design, and final musical performances at the end of each session.

Habimah campers travel on several field trips throughout the summer, attend Intensive Workshops in various styles of dance and participate in many JCC camp special events.

Sports Camp (Entering 2nd-8th grades)

Our Sports Camp is well known around Miami and is a Camp J favorite! Campers have the opportunity to focus on their favorite sports throughout the summer. Each week, campers work in the morning on skills, drills, and strategies for the focus sport. Afternoons then consist of a variety of athletic activities, including soccer, basketball, water activities, and tennis. Campers spend time inside our double full-court gymnasium and also outdoors on our many fields. At the end of the week, the Sports Camp teams enjoy competitive match play against their camp friends!

What if my child needs accommodations?

We have two options for campers with special needs.  

Tikvah is a program designed for campers with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Campers participate in all activities, special events, and field trips. 

High-functioning special needs campers in grades K-10 will be placed in a traditional camp bunk and will be supported throughout the day by an inclusion counselor.

Yearly intake is required.

Are there any scholarships available?

We have two different options for scholarships:

Children’s Trust (Best option for Traditional Camps): If applying for Children’s Trust, your camper must attend all 7 weeks of summer camp.  Once your application is complete, please upload your Trust application, 2024 taxes, letter of need, and 504/IEP (if applicable) to alperjcc.org/trust. If approved, there is a fee determined by an income based sliding scale to ensure accessibility for those who need it most. Do I need to become a member?

No, however, we do offer discounted prices to members. If you do not have a current Family Membership you can purchase a NONREFUNDABLE Summer Camp All-Inclusive Membership that is valid from June 1st to August 31st. If you choose to purchase the Family Membership for the summer, a $199 fee will be added to your camp tuition and charged in full at time of registration.

This membership will allow you and your family to enjoy the JCC's 23-acre campus, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, sauna and steam room, Jr. Olympic-sized pool, basketball gym, racquetball courts, and free childcare while using the fitness center.

Amanda Golzbein

Camp & After Care Program Director
 

Learn more

Amanda is a JCC-lifer, having grown up here and attending ECD as a child. She has participated in BBYO meetings, enjoyed working out at the JCC Fitness Center, and has spent many years at camp. At camp, she has been a camper, counselor, specialist, supervisor, and Operations Manager. 
 
Amanda graduated from the University of Florida with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught for 10 years and has 9 years of experience on the administrative team at JCC camps. She truly loves the camp world, where campers have the opportunity to be creative, grow socially and emotionally, and most of all, have fun!
 
Amanda has two daughters, Talia (2) and Zoey (8) who are growing up with a joy for camp as they love to sing songs together and actively participate in the JCC preschool, aftercare, and summer camp Shabbat celebrations. On the weekends, Amanda enjoys reading, dancing, being in nature, and spending time with her husband, Jason, and their extended families.

Nicole received her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and her Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Florida State University. Nicole discovered her passion for working with youth with exceptionalities in 2006 as an LIT here at the Dave and Mary Alper JCC and spent the next eight years working in our Tikvah and after school care programs.

Before returning to the J, Nicole served as the Education Chair for the State of Florida’s Juvenile Justice Association, and was recognized as a proactive leader in effectively serving and addressing issues raised by the diverse agencies involved in Florida’s Juvenile Justice system. She worked at the Florida Center for Reading Research, Teach for America National Office, and National Defense Fund Freedom Schools. Most recently, Nicole was the Director of Education for a nonprofit, serving youth with special needs at seven different school sites. In her role she provided strategic direction for agency growth and development, curriculum development, and service delivery model enhancement. She has worked as a Principal, School Administrator, ESE and Program Specialist, and Special Education Teacher. Nicole’s work focuses on ensuring educational equity and inclusivity for all students.

Nicole is most excited to back at her Alper JCC home and provide the highest quality programming and engagement opportunities for our special needs and after school programs!
