Intro To Fitness

Intro Available for children ages 12-15, most of our nationally certified professionals can take your child through a comprehensive introduction to the exciting and proactive fitness lifestyle.

Registration Please return signed and completed pre-activity form including payment of $165 per student to the Fitness Center Front Desk. This is a private package of 3 1-hour sessions and is scheduled based on convenience and availability.

Buddy sessions are also available at LOWER COST per student! 3 buddy sessions (2 students) are $80/hr, for a total of $240 for 2 students. For more information please call Jasonn at 305-271-9000, ext. 243 or Fitness Center Front desk at 305-271-9000, ext. 284.

Class Objectives & Procedures Upon completion of this course and a passing score on final exam, students will gain access to the Fitness Center. During this course they will learn age appropriate training techniques, gym etiquette, proper form and how and when to change their workouts to suit their individual needs safely and effectively. Students must be on time and ready to workout with appropriate attire and footwear. Attendance is mandatory for all sessions and there are no makeup sessions. Students must be JCC members to take this course.

Lacrosse is here!
Whether you are looking to learn the sport or take your game to the Next Level we are here to provide the coaching you need. The JCC summer lacrosse program teaches both boys and girls grades 6-12 the skills they need to play at a competitive level. With experienced coaches we provide training that addresses individual needs to help build skills, endurance, strength and knowledge to play Lacrosse. If you want to make the school team or just sharpen your skills we are here to help. Our program begins June 3rd through July 31 Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:45pm-7:30pm, with the week of July 4 off. This 8 week program can be done in one month or two month sessions.

Fitness Center Privelages
Personal training by certified professionals is available.

Your All-Inclusive Membership provides you with complete access to the JCC's state-of-the-art Fitness Center. As a new JCC Member, your Fitness Center privileges begin with two free workout orientation sessions and a customized personal fitness program.

• Consultation with professional fitness trainers on weight training, cardiovascular routines, body fat composition, height/weight, girth measurements, stretching and flexibility assessment, and diet and nutrition;

• Free or discounted classes (see below);

• Free supervised
on-site childcare while exercising in the Fitness Center or engaging in other athletic activities

• Group abdominal training and circuit training classes;

• Priority
tennis and racquetball reservations (72 hour advance reservation);

• Men's and Women's lounges, locker rooms and showers with towels and toiletries;

• Sauna, steam room, and whirlpool.

Teens, ages 13-15 years old, may take free and discounted group fitness classes with a Family or Teen Membership. However, they must first complete an "Introduction to Fitness" course to qualify them to use the Exercise Studio and Weight Room.

This fun, engaging and active program encourages participants to increase their physical activity. Based upon "fitness, fun and friends," the Fitness Center-based program incorporates social events with an exercise program that enhances independent living skills.

More Renovations to Our Fitness Center

NEW!Fitness Center has expanded into Racquetball Court 4. The new strength and conditioning room has alleviated crowding in the weight room and we have added new equipment:

Wall Board w/Dynamax Medicine Balls - balls of various weights are thrown against plywood from various positions and caught, to increase reactive time, explosive power and strengthen core.

Cybex Eagle Prone Leg Curl - this machine isolates the hamstrings while taking pressure off the lower back.

Startrack Maxrack - this equipment allows both vertical and horizontal movements. Unlike the standard machine, now you can forward lunge with a 65 lb. bar instead of the standard 45 lb. bar.

Cybex Multirack - for heavy lifting and Olympic movements: Bench pressing, squats, dead lifts and power cleans. The shock-absorbent floor allows more freedom and better placement of weights.

Power Ropes - anchored to the wall and used to increase strength and endurance, they specifically target shoulders.

Any of the Fitness Center instructors will be happy to show you the equipment, which you are urged to try with supervision until you become comfortable.

New Indoor Cycling Equipment!
If you haven’t taken a class lately, please join us! We now call our program Indoor Cycling, but the instructors are the same. Now with the addition of the new bikes you will enjoy a nice smooth ride. The Schwinn IC Pro provides four adjustments on each bike and adjustments for the height and forward or back position on both the handles and seat. The bikes work on a magnetic system which means no more brake pads, this creates a smooth ride.

All New Cybex 770T Treadmills Are Here!
The Fitness Center has all new treadmills to better serve its members. The Cybex 770T Treadmills are state of the art & equipped with audio docking stations and TVs. In addition we now have two Octane xRides which are seated ellipticals that challenge muscles differently with forward and backward directions and greater glute involvement. Exercisers combine cardio and strength training efficiently with vigorous intervals of 10-15 repetitions at high resistance levels.
