Special Events

The Shirley and Chester Paul Special Needs Program at the Alper JCC offers a fun, stimulating, and dynamic program for children, teens and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Programs include a summer camp called
Tikvah, Tikvah, Winter Mini-Camp, Spring Mini-Camp and No-School Holidays.

Our program is structured to instill confidence, develop social and life skills, increase attention span, and improve fine and gross motor abilities. In addition, everyone participates in a variety of activities including indoor/outdoor games, swimming, cooking, field trips.

Inclusion Program
Our Inclusion Program is for high functioning campers in the Alper JCC's summer camp. Campers will have an advocate to guide them throughout the day and will be part of a general camp bunk.
JCC Membership is required in order to participate in the Special Needs program.

The Teen Club is designed for high-functioning teenagers who have special needs. The Teens attend two fieldtrips a month where they develop social skills and independence. Some of the trips we are looking forward to are the Museum of Discovery and Science, the Dade County Youth Fair, our Disney trip, and Parrot Jungle. Meets two Sundays per month at 11am. JCC Members $75. Screening required for first time participants.



Meet with us to socialize and participate in arts and crafts, cooking, Judaic activities and more. Other fun events include bowling and dinner at TGI Friday’s. Meets two Mondays per month, 7-8:30pm. JCC Members $75.

It’s time for another wonderful evening to honor and provide financial resources for our outstanding Shirley and Chester Paul JCC Special Needs Program.

This year’s event features Jay Siegel’s Tokens performing their #1 Hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” plus so much of your favorite music from the 60’s. Revive your fabulous memories of the 60’s for an evening in support of the wonderful Shirley and Chester Paul Special Needs Program. You will be thrilled to start your evening with the fabulous cocktail hour and silent auction followed by a stroll down memory lane as Jay Siegel’s Tokens perform in the Robert Russell Theater. The evening will be capped off with an amazing array of decadent desserts.
