The Berrin Family Library and Resource Center, located in the Youth & Adult
Building, is open to all Members and their families in the South Dade community. We provide Judaica books for every age group. Also, our Jewish Heritage Video Library provides volumes of information that address vital issues of Jewish history, identity and culture with an innovative approach to Jewish education.

Phyllis Levy recently began working as librarian at the Berrin Family Library at the Alper JCC. Phyllis, who retired from public library service, began her career with the San Francisco and Akron, Ohio Public Libraries before joining the Miami-Dade Public Library System. She served as Head of Reference at Coral Gables Branch for 10 years and as Branch Manager of Kendall Branch for 16 years. At Kendall Branch, Phyllis initiated a book discussion group, Great Jewish Books lecture series and computer basics class for seniors.
Phyllis facilitates book discussion groups at the Alper JCC as well as the Palace Suites. She is planning a Great Jewish Books Lecture Series for the Alper JCC beginning next fall. Phyllis, and her husband Philip, are proud parents of Elliot who is now a freshman in the Coral Reef piano program. A member and past president of Havurah of South Florida, Phyllis is active at the Fitness Center and is an advocate for traffic safety issues. She is studying Jewish literature at U of M and is available to help members with reading suggestions and reference assistance. Phone the library at x243 or Please email her at plevy@alperjcc.org

The Puzzle King by Betsy Carter

A Friend of the Family by Lauren Grodstein

Join us for a discussion of A Friend of the Family by Lauren Grodstein. This novel brings great insight into a father's protective urge for his son in this gripping portrait of an American family in crisis. No charge. Facilitated by Phyllis Levy.

A donation of $25 dollars or more will designate the donor as a “Friend of the Library”, and a name plate will be placed in a library book in honor of the contributor as well as person whose memory or honor the donation has been made.
