An Important Message from the
Greater Miami Jewish Federation

Challenging times bring out the best in people.

The heart of a Jewish community is its people… people helping people in all sorts of ways, each and every day.

Now, during this time of dramatic economic uncertainty for so many individuals and families in our community, there are many more people in need of help. And, there are also many more people who want to help.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is doing all we can to provide help to the most vulnerable members of our community. While we may not be able to fix every problem borne of this economy, nor address every individual issue, we are working with our network of social-service agencies to ensure that help is provided quickly to those with the greatest needs.

For 70 years, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation has built and sustained a network of vital social-service agencies and programs to care for Jews in need, help those at risk and advance Jewish life. It is precisely for the most difficult times that this safety net exists.

Unfortunately, as the headlines reveal, the current economic environment is creating a greater need for these services each day. Despite the increasing demand, we will do everything possible to bring comfort, relief and hope to those suffering in our community. This is thanks to the ongoing annual support of thousands of people who understand that there must be a communal safety net in place, not just now, but always.

If you are able to help, please know that your gift will be greatly appreciated. Your online donation through
www.jewishmiami.org will provide the additional support our Jewish community’s programs and services so desperately need right now. If you prefer to make a donation by telephone, call 305.576.4000, or mail your check, payable to Greater Miami Jewish Federation, to 4200 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33137.

Providing hands-on assistance by volunteering is another powerful way to help.

If you would like to lend a hand to agencies in our community, Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) can use the people-power. Call 786.866.8414 or e-mail
volunteer@gmjf.org Most importantly, if you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please call the Jewish community’s 24-hour helpline at 305.576.6550. All information is kept strictly confidential.

The Mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is to mobilize human and financial resources to care for those in need, strengthen Jewish life and advance the unity, values and shared purpose of the Jewish people in Miami, in Israel and around the world.
